Mechanical Testing of Materials at BISS LABS

Mechanical testing is an integral part of any design, and manufacturing process in an industry. Typically, this is carried out at the raw material acceptance stage, intermediate levels of manufacturing, and final product. This is critical in high performance technology areas such as Aerospace, Wind energy, automotive, and Nuclear sectors. Test methods that are being used have been developed by different organisations such as MIL, ASTM, and ISO as standards. It is a standard practice that manufacturers, Technologists, and R&D personnel contract an accredited lab to perform the tests. The lab is required to be equipped with specialised test equipment, customised grips and fixtures and transducers apart from having experienced Testing personnel. Over the past 10 years BISS Labs have graduated as an accredited testing centre for evaluating the mechanical properties of metallic, non-metallic, ceramic and polymeric materials.

BISS Labs are located in Bangalore’s largest Industrial Area, Peenya. Over 30 servo-hydraulic Universal Testing Machines and several customized rigs for testing, serve a wide front of testing services from material property evaluation to component and full-scale testing under simulated service load environment.

Equipped with a variety of servo-hydraulic/electric Test Systems ranging from 500N to 2000 kN capacity built in-house, 15 Structural actuators ranging from 10 kN to 150 kN, and also a Torsional Test System of 10k N-m capacity BISS Labs caters to evaluation of static/Fatigue/Fracture properties of materials; properties are evaluated at room temperature and also over a temperature range from -150°C to 1000°C as and when specified. Experienced and skilled personnel provide the testing services and thereby the facility has established a symbiotic relationship with the world’s most reputed industries and academic institutions.
